Vafa Naraghi

Vafa Naraghi is a comedian whose touring show Becoming South African traces his own journey, from growing up as a Persian boy in Mahikeng at the tail end of apartheid to becoming a multilingual performer who has lived and worked across South Africa. Through wit and storytelling it unpacks the absurdities, contradictions and quiet beauty of a democracy still finding itself, turning on identity, culture, belonging and national pride, and inviting an audience to laugh, reflect and reimagine what it means to be South African. The 2026 run opened at The Capital in Mbombela.
