Uncle Waffles is the stage name of Lungelihle Zwane, a Swazi DJ and record producer born on 30 March 2000 in Eswatini and based in South Africa; she uses she/her pronouns. A leading figure in amapiano, the South African electronic dance style, she has been dubbed the 'Princess of Amapiano' and is known for blending DJing with expressive dancing. She learned to DJ during the 2020 lockdowns, and a viral 2021 clip of her performing at a Soweto club launched her career. Her 2022 single 'Tanzania' topped charts at home, and in April 2023 she became the first amapiano artist to perform at Coachella; Beyoncé later sampled the track on tour. Live, she is celebrated for infectious, dance-driven sets at clubs and festivals worldwide.
