Tyla Laura Seethal, born in Johannesburg on 30 January 2002, is a South African singer and songwriter dubbed the "Queen of Popiano" for a style that fuses pop and amapiano. She signed to Epic Records in 2021 on the domestic strength of her 2019 debut single "Getting Late". "Water", in 2023, was the first song by a South African soloist to enter the US Billboard Hot 100 in 55 years, and won the inaugural Grammy Award for Best African Music Performance. A self-titled debut album followed in 2024, the EP WWP in 2025, and A*Pop in 2026. She is the youngest African artist ever to win a Grammy.
