About
Tony Drake has worked as a professional musician since 1980, mostly from behind a keyboard. He performs and records with the Glenn Robertson Jazz Band, the saxophonist Andrew Young, the country band Rocking Horse, Duck Chowles' Retro Rewind Band and the David Ricky Quartet, and across four decades has worked with David Kramer, Kurt Darren, Mynie Grove, Najee and PP Arnold among many others. He plays a great deal of jazz but considers himself more of an all-round keyboard artist — an old rocker at heart, actually. He runs his own project studio in Observatory, Cape Town, where he has recorded numerous albums of his own original material, mostly a fusion of jazz, funk, house and blues with some electronics.
