About
Tijuana Cartel are an electronic music group from the Gold Coast, Australia, who describe their sound as electronic music with a world music element. The group formed in 2003, taking its name from the movie Traffic, and is built around Paul George and Carey O'Sullivan, its sole consistent members, with others joining the live shows. Their 2007 debut album Frequent Flyers Redeemed mixed flamenco guitar with electronic music; later records drew in dub, roots and rock, among them 24bit Guitar Orchestra (2014), Psychedelicatessan (2015), built on samples from the cult radio play What's Rangoon To You Is Grafton To Me, and Acid Pony (2021). After airplay on Triple J they toured festivals around Australia and went on to Europe, India and Beijing, and they won Live Act Of The Year at the Gold Coast Music Awards in 2018 and 2020.
