About
Tiana Amari is a Cape Town bassist, composer and bandleader whose groove-driven playing moves between jazz, neo-soul, soul, pop and contemporary music. She has collaborated with leading South African artists, taken part in an international music exchange programme in Rotterdam, and performed at the Montreux Jazz Festival. Her quartet gathers some of the brightest rising players on the Cape Town jazz scene — Owethu Ndwandwe on keyboards, DA Drummer SA on percussion and Lindelo Mangesi on saxophone — for a set of contemporary jazz that the Alma Cafe bills as a fresh sound from a new generation.
