About
Theon Cross is a British tuba player and composer, born and raised in London to a Jamaican father and a Saint Lucian mother. He started tenor horn lessons at eight, switched to tuba in his mid-teens, and came to jazz through the Tomorrow's Warriors education programme before studying at the Guildhall School of Music and Drama. He is a core member of Sons of Kemet and has worked with Moses Boyd and Nubya Garcia on his own projects, alongside collaborations with Jon Batiste, Emeli Sandé, Kano and Makaya McCraven. His solo releases run from the 2015 EP Aspirations to the album Fyah in 2019 and Intra-I in 2021.
