The Yummy Fur were a Scottish indie and art-punk band from Glasgow, active from 1992 to 1999 and named after a Chester Brown comic. Fronted by John McKeown and defined by a constantly shifting line-up, they built a cult following through two John Peel Sessions and championing from the DJ himself, releasing the albums Night Club (1996) and Sexy World (1998). The group is best remembered as an incubator for future stars: drummer Paul Thomson and Alex Kapranos both passed through before co-founding Franz Ferdinand, and Dino Bardot later joined that band too. The Yummy Fur reunited briefly in 2010 for a US tour and a retrospective release.
