The Human League are an English synth-pop band formed in Sheffield in 1977, widely regarded as pioneers of electronic pop. Their third album Dare (1981) proved hugely influential, and its single 'Don't You Want Me' reached number one in both the UK and US; the later 'Human' also topped the US chart. The band won the 1982 Brit Award for British Breakthrough Act and had sold more than 20 million records by 2010. The long-standing core of Philip Oakey with Joanne Catherall and Susan Ann Sulley remains intact. Onstage the group performs with a full live band rather than backing tracks, rehearsing before every show, and has continued to tour arenas across Europe on outings such as Dare 40 and Generations 2024.
