The Courteeners are an English indie-rock band formed in Middleton, Greater Manchester, in 2006 and fronted by singer-songwriter Liam Fray. Emerging from the post-Britpop scene, they broke through with the 2008 debut St. Jude, which reached number four in the UK and went gold; a 15th-anniversary reissue later topped the chart, setting a record for the longest gap between a release and reaching number one. Later albums including Concrete Love (2014) reinforced their standing. The band are best known as a formidable live draw in their home city — they sold out 25,000 tickets for Heaton Park in 40 minutes in 2015 and played to roughly 50,000 people at Emirates Old Trafford in 2017.
