System Of A Down

System of a Down are an American rock band formed in Glendale, California, in 1994, comprising Serj Tankian, Daron Malakian, Shavo Odadjian and drummer John Dolmayan. Blending alternative metal, nu metal, hard rock and progressive elements with Armenian musical influences, they built a sound Malakian likened to "Slayer and the Beatles" meeting. Three of their five studio albums debuted at number one on the Billboard 200, and 2001's Toxicity became a defining record of the era. They won a Grammy for Best Hard Rock Performance for "B.Y.O.B." and have sold more than 12 million records worldwide. Known for explosive, politically charged concerts, they remain a major live draw.
