Suzanne Ciani

Suzanne Ciani is an American musician, sound designer and composer, born in 1946, who found early success in the 1970s with electronic music and sound effects for films and television commercials — her sound of a bottle of Coca-Cola being opened and poured became one of her most widely recognized works. She studied at Wellesley College and took a master's in composition at the University of California, Berkeley, where she met Don Buchla and became a devotee of his analog modular synthesizer. Nominated five times for the Grammy Award for Best New Age Album, she began her first album, Seven Waves, in 1979, released Sunergy with Kaitlyn Aurelia Smith in 2016, and in 2017 became the first woman to receive a Moog Music Innovation Award at Moogfest. In 2024 she toured Particles & Waves with Age of Reflections.
