Suicidal Tendencies are an American crossover thrash band from Venice, Los Angeles, formed in 1980 and led throughout by founding vocalist Mike Muir. Widely credited among the fathers of crossover thrash, they fused hardcore punk aggression with metal riffing and, later, funk-metal groove. Their 1983 self-titled debut carried the breakthrough anthem "Institutionalized," and 1990's Lights...Camera...Revolution! became their first gold record and earned a Grammy nomination. The Art of Rebellion (1992) gave them their highest Billboard 200 placing. Muir has anchored a shifting lineup across more than four decades, with later entries including 13 (2013) and World Gone Mad (2016). The band has long carried a reputation as a ferocious live act on stages and festival bills worldwide.
