Stephanie Baartman won the 2025 Stellenbosch Woordfees Woordtrofee for an outstanding contribution to contemporary music in the small-group category. Her semi-autobiographical cabaret Hoort tells the story of Stephanie, the daughter of two pastors, trying to find her place in the world amid her mixed background and a complicated national history; it moves between humour and pathos over a live mix of koortjies, ghoema, jazz and original Afrikaans compositions, and arrives at the thought that fitting in is one thing and belonging quite another. Hoort is nominated for a KKNK 2026 Kanna award for best music-driven theatre, after two Fiësta 2025 nominations.
