Split Chain are a British rock band formed in Bristol in 2023, made up of vocalist Bert Martinez-Cowles, guitarists Oli Bowles and Jake Reid, bassist Tom Davies and drummer Aaron Black. They pair the wall-of-sound textures of shoegaze with the force of hardcore and grunge, a hybrid sometimes tagged "nu-gaze" that also pulls in post-hardcore and nu-metal. Despite forming only recently, the five-piece has amassed more than 15 million streams and signed to the influential punk label Epitaph Records, releasing their debut album, Motionblur, in 2025. Split Chain have already toured the UK and United States and appeared at festivals including Download, Outbreak and 2000trees, building a reputation as a fast-rising, loud and immersive live band.
