Spiritualized are an English rock band formed in Rugby, Warwickshire, in 1990 by Jason Pierce, known as J. Spaceman, after the breakup of his previous band Spacemen 3. Their music fuses space rock, neo-psychedelia and experimental, gospel-tinged arrangements. Their 1997 album Ladies and Gentlemen We Are Floating in Space was named Album of the Year by NME and remains their most celebrated work, while the band has released around nine studio albums through 2022's Everything Was Beautiful. In 1997 they were the last act to play at Factory Records' famed Manchester nightclub The Haçienda. Renowned for immersive, wall-of-sound live shows, Spiritualized have toured extensively and performed Ladies and Gentlemen in full, cementing a reputation for enveloping, transcendent concerts.
