Solomun is Mladen Solomun, born in Travnik and raised in Hamburg, where he worked construction for his father and spent about five years running a small film company before music took over. He was playing records at House of Youth at sixteen and producing by twenty-three. In late 2005 he founded Diynamic with Adriano Trolio under the motto Do It Yourself, and a more experimental second label, 2DIY4, in 2010. His remix of Noir & Haze's Around was named Remix of the Year by Resident Advisor, and Mixmag made him DJ of the Year in 2012.
