About
Shag Rock are an Australian indie-rock group formed in 2011, named after a rock off North Stradbroke Island where the members went often growing up. In 2015 they signed to Airlock Records, the independent label founded by Powderfinger's Ian Haug, and released a self-titled debut EP; its song "Champagne" was certified Gold by ARIA in 2025. The singles "Roadtrip" and "Sunbleached Girl" came ahead of the debut album Barefoot in February 2017, Tayla Young joined in 2021, and that July's second album, Double Overhead — which, Jacob Reed said, "explores mental health" — was nominated for Queensland Album of the Year.
