Ryno Velvet is a South African singer, songwriter and guitarist from the Bellville area of Cape Town. He works mainly in alternative Afrikaans/South African rock and is known as an offbeat performer, notably playing a right-handed guitar left-handed and upside down. He rose to prominence in 2006 with the song 'Ai My Lam' and has remained active in the alternative Afrikaans music scene. He has released several studio albums, including Karma (2006), Harp, Bulletin and Alfabet. He has toured and collaborated with fellow musician Jan Blohm, with whom he formed the joint act 'Velvetblohm' around 2021.
