Robert Plant is an English singer and songwriter, born on 20 August 1948 in West Bromwich, Staffordshire. He rose to fame as the lead vocalist and lyricist of Led Zeppelin, one of rock's defining bands, from 1968 until 1980. His wide-ranging voice and raw stagecraft made him one of the era's most celebrated frontmen. Solo, he charted with Now and Zen (1988) and later reinvented himself alongside Alison Krauss, whose 2007 album Raising Sand won the Grammy for Album of the Year. He was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1995 and appointed CBE in 2009. Across projects from Page and Plant to Saving Grace, Plant remains a restless, magnetic live performer decades into his career.
