Robert Glasper is an American pianist, producer and songwriter from Houston, Texas, born in 1978, whose music dissolves the borders between jazz, hip-hop, R&B and neo-soul. His 2012 album Black Radio peaked in the Billboard 200 and won the Grammy for Best R&B Album, launching an ongoing series. A first-call collaborator, he played keys on Kendrick Lamar's To Pimp a Butterfly and has worked with Common, Herbie Hancock, Erykah Badu and Mac Miller, among many others. He has won five Grammy Awards and an Emmy across his career. Live, Glasper is a celebrated improviser and curator, holding residencies at Carnegie Hall and the Blue Note, where his month-long runs routinely sell out.
