Remi is an Australian hip-hop act built around Melbourne rapper Remi Kolawole, born in Canberra to a Tasmanian mother and a Nigerian father, alongside producer Justin "Sensible J" Smith. Formed in the early 2010s, the group earned wide critical acclaim with 2014's Raw x Infinity, which won the Australian Music Prize. Its 2016 album Divas & Demons — the first credited to the pair as a duo — was nominated for the 2017 ARIA Award for Best Urban Album, and the act closed out with the album Fried in 2021. Praised for everyman storytelling and soul-inflected production, Remi built a strong reputation on the Australian live circuit, delivering charismatic, groove-driven shows that helped define a wave of homegrown hip-hop.
