Peter Capaldi is a Scottish actor, director, singer and guitarist, born in April 1958 and best known on screen as the twelfth Doctor in Doctor Who and as Malcolm Tucker in The Thick of It. He has been a musician since art school: as a student at the Glasgow School of Art he was lead singer and guitarist in a punk rock band called the Dreamboys, whose drummer was the future comedian Craig Ferguson. He returned to it while filming The Suicide Squad, writing and recording his debut solo album St. Christopher, released through Monks Road Records on 19 November 2021. At Glastonbury in 2025 he joined Franz Ferdinand on the Other Stage — introduced as "the original Capaldi" — to sing "Take Me Out" with Alex Kapranos.
