Ora Cogan is a Canadian indie-folk singer-songwriter born and raised in the Gulf Islands of British Columbia and based in Nanaimo. Working independently and on small labels before signing with Sacred Bones Records, she has released around eleven albums and EPs between 2005 and 2026. Her 2026 album Hard Hearted Woman was longlisted for that year's Polaris Music Prize, Canada's marquee album award. Beyond music she has worked as a photojournalist, documenting the Fairy Creek old-growth logging protests of 2020–2021, and she contributed to Backxwash's 2025 album Only Dust Remains. Her atmospheric, reverb-washed folk carries into her touring, where she performs her spectral songwriting for the independent-circuit audiences that have followed her across two decades of steady, self-directed output.
