Nourished by Time is the recording project of American musician Marcus Brown, from Baltimore, Maryland. Working largely alone, he fuses lo-fi indie pop, synth-pop, post-punk and the new jack swing of 1990s R&B into a distinctive, self-produced sound critics have called genre-bending. His 2023 debut album Erotic Probiotic 2 earned Pitchfork's Best New Music designation and featured on numerous year-end lists, and he followed it with the 2024 EP Catching Chickens and the 2025 album The Passionate Ones, whose lyrics touch on class and modern economic life. Widely praised as a DIY pop craftsman who turns limitations into strengths, Brown performs the material live under the Nourished by Time name.
