Nkosinathi Mankayi, who records as Nathi, is a South African singer-songwriter born in 1982 in Mthatha and raised in Maclear, in the Eastern Cape. He came to the country's attention in November 2014, when Vusi Nova heard him sing and insisted on featuring him on "Noma Kanjani". His debut album Buyelekhaya followed in March 2015 and went platinum within six weeks, selling over 128,000 units on the strength of its lead single "Nomvula"; it won him five awards at the 22nd South African Music Awards. Umbulelo Wam came in 2016, and Iphupha Labantu and Usiba Lwe Gazi each took Best African Adult Contemporary Album at the South African Music Awards. He is signed to Gallo Record Company.
