Musiq Soulchild is an American singer-songwriter from Philadelphia, born Taalib Johnson in 1977. A cornerstone of the neo-soul era, he weaves R&B, funk, jazz and gospel into a warm, classic-soul sound. His 2000 debut Aijuswanaseing announced him, and both Juslisen (2002) and Luvanmusiq (2007) reached number one on the Billboard 200. Singles including "Halfcrazy," "Love" and "B.U.D.D.Y." became staples of the format, and he has collected 13 Grammy nominations along with a 2001 BET Award for Best Male R&B Artist. A seasoned live performer, he remains a reliable draw on the soul and R&B touring circuit.
