Muse are an English rock band from Teignmouth, Devon, formed in 1994 around Matt Bellamy (lead vocals, guitar, keyboards), Chris Wolstenholme (bass) and Dominic Howard (drums). Origin of Symmetry (2001) brought romantic classical influences and a reputation for energetic live performances, and Absolution (2003) was the first of seven consecutive UK number-one albums. Singles such as “Time Is Running Out”, “Hysteria”, “Supermassive Black Hole” and “Uprising” carried them to stadiums worldwide, and Drones won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2016. As of 2022 they had sold more than 30 million albums; Roger Taylor of Queen called the trio “probably the greatest live act in the world today”.
