Morris Day and the Time are an American funk band formed in Minneapolis in 1981, a cornerstone of the Minneapolis sound fronted by singer Morris Day. The group emerged from a Prince production deal — he played nearly every instrument on their 1981 debut — and grew into a swaggering funk-rock outfit across albums including What Time Is It? (1982), Ice Cream Castle (1984) and Pandemonium (1990). Hits like 'Cool,' '777-9311,' 'The Bird,' 'Jungle Love' and their best-selling single 'Jerk Out' made them one of the era's most charismatic acts, later honoured with a star on First Avenue's exterior. Known for slick, comedic, high-energy showmanship, a Morris Day and the Time reunion is, in the band's own words, 'naturally a party.'
