Morcheeba are an English band formed in Kent in the mid-1990s, helping define the decade's trip-hop sound with a warm blend of downtempo grooves, folk and rock. The group came together around producer brothers Paul and Ross Godfrey and vocalist Skye Edwards, whose smoky voice became their signature. Early albums Big Calm (1998) and Fragments of Freedom (2000) were commercial high points, the former certified double platinum in the UK. Edwards left in 2003 but rejoined in 2010, and the band has since released a long run of records stretching past 2025's Escape the Chaos. Paul Godfrey departed in 2014, leaving Edwards and Ross Godfrey as the core. Morcheeba remain a fixture on the international touring circuit, performing with an expanded live band.
