About
Mom Jeans are an American emo band formed at the University of California, Berkeley, in 2014 around Eric Butler and Austin Carango. Rooted in the Midwest-emo revival, their sound mixes twinkling guitars, brass flourishes and confessional, often self-deprecating lyrics. The group grew from an acoustic cassette demo into a full band, releasing Best Buds (2016), Puppy Love (2018), Sweet Tooth (2022) and Bear Market (2023) through labels including Counter Intuitive Records and Big Scary Monsters. Butler and Carango have remained the core, joined over time by guitarist Bart Thompson and bassist Sam Kless. A fixture of the DIY emo touring circuit, Mom Jeans built their following through relentless live shows and sing-along-ready sets rather than radio play.
