About
The Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra plays principally at the Bradley Symphony Center, in Allen-Bradley Hall, and also serves as the orchestra for Florentine Opera productions. It grew out of the part-time Milwaukee Pops Orchestra and took its present name in 1959, when Harry John Brown became its first music director; over nine years he carried it from a semi-professional pops group to a fully professional, full-time symphony orchestra. Kenneth Schermerhorn followed him as music director from 1968 to 1980.
