Mel die Storieverteller is the stage name of Melanie Welgemoed, a South African Afrikaans comedian, storyteller and writer from Middelburg, Mpumalanga. She rose to prominence through sharp, tongue-in-cheek social-media videos, building a following of more than 380,000. She studied in the Theatre Department at Stellenbosch University. Her debut one-woman show 'Almal is Mal!' sold out at the Atterbury Theatre, and her show 'Internet Sensasie' has toured internationally, including New Zealand. She was named Netwerk24's Entertainer of the Year and Huisgenoot's TikToker of the Year for 2026.
