Matthew West is an American contemporary Christian singer-songwriter, born in Downers Grove, Illinois, in 1977. Blending inspirational lyrics with accessible pop-rock, he broke through with 'More' in 2003, which spent nine weeks atop the Christian Adult Contemporary chart. His later single 'Hello, My Name Is' logged a career-best 17 consecutive weeks at number one on Billboard's Christian Songs chart. A prolific writer, West has penned songs for Point of Grace, Casting Crowns and mainstream acts including Rascal Flatts. He earned a Grammy nomination in 2009 for 'The Motions', won the 2013 American Music Award for Best Contemporary Inspirational Artist, and took the 2018 Dove Award for Songwriter of the Year. He remains a busy live draw on the Christian touring circuit.
