Mat Kearney is an American singer-songwriter, born in Eugene, Oregon, in 1978 and now based in Nashville. His sound threads soft rock and folk through hip-hop-inflected phrasing and spoken-word cadences. His 2006 major-label debut Nothing Left to Lose yielded a platinum-certified title track that reached No. 41 on the Billboard Hot 100, while 2009's City of Black & White debuted at No. 13 on the Billboard 200 and spawned the gold single "Closer to Love." Young Love followed in 2011, peaking at No. 4, and he has notched five top-20 hits on the Adult Top 40. An established touring artist who shared stages with John Mayer, Sheryl Crow and Train early on and headlined VH1's You Oughta Know tour, he remains a dependable live draw.
