Marc Lottering

Marc Eugene Lottering (born 4 December 1967) is a South African stand-up comedian and actor from Cape Town, who grew up in the Retreat area of the Cape Flats. He rose to prominence with his 1997 show 'After the Beep' and became one of South Africa's best-known comedians. In 2001 he won the Vita Award for Best Actor in a Comedy and has received multiple Fleur du Cap awards. He performed in the Bafunny Bafunny show at London's Royal Albert Hall in 2010, and created 'Aunty Merle the Musical' (2017), which enjoyed sold-out seasons in Cape Town and Johannesburg. Across nearly three decades he has become one of South Africa's most beloved comedians, his warm, character-driven storytelling — anchored by creations like the irrepressible 'Aunty Merle' — drawing sold-out theatre audiences nationwide and a devoted following well beyond Cape Town.
