Lucy Kaplansky is a singer-songwriter whose career began in the Greenwich Village folk scene of the late 1970s. She moved to New York City at 18 to be a folksinger and became part of the community around Folk City alongside Dave Van Ronk, Odetta and Lucinda Williams, introducing Suzanne Vega to the scene and forming lasting partnerships with Shawn Colvin and Richard Shindell. Her singing moves across jazz, bluegrass, folk, country and pop, and she has released ten solo albums, touring major venues and recording studios across the US and Europe.
