About
Los Bukis, the Mexican grupero band, formed in Ario de Rosales, Michoacán, in 1973; buki means "kid" in the Purépecha language. Marco Antonio Solís and his cousin Joel Solís had performed as Los Hermanitos Solís before signing with Discos Melody, which proposed the name. In 1980 the band relocated to the United States, adding Roberto Guadarrama and José Javier Solís, and its best-known lineup also included Eusebio "El Chivo" Cortés, Jose "Pepe" Guadarrama and Pedro Sánchez. Their 1982 album Yo Te Necesito was nominated at the 26th Annual Grammy Awards. Marco Antonio Solís reunited Los Bukis in 2021, for the first time in 25 years, and in July 2025 the band received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame.
