Lil Wayne is an American rapper from the Hollygrove neighborhood of New Orleans, born Dwayne Carter in 1982. Signed to Cash Money Records as a child, he became one of hip-hop's most prolific and influential figures, and in 2005 founded the Young Money label that launched Drake and Nicki Minaj. His 2008 album Tha Carter III sold more than a million copies in its first week and produced his first number-one single, "Lollipop." He has won five Grammy Awards and sold well over 100 million records, and by 2012 had logged more Billboard Hot 100 entries than Elvis Presley. A relentless touring headliner, Wayne remains a marquee live draw at arenas and festivals worldwide.
