Leonid & Friends are a Chicago tribute band — literally: they play the music of Chicago, and they are based in Moscow. Leonid Vorobyev, a multi-instrumentalist trained as a sound engineer and choir conductor at the East Siberian Institute of Culture, founded the band and made his first Chicago video recording, "Brand New Love Affair", in 2014. The videos, many featuring Ukrainian vocalist Serge Tiagniryadno, went viral into the millions and turned into real touring — Russia first, then the United States from 2019. Three Chicago tribute albums titled Chicagovich, plus Earth, Wind & Fire, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Tower of Power and Steely Dan in the set.
