Leo Sayer is a British singer-songwriter, born Gerard Hugh Sayer in Shoreham-by-Sea, Sussex, in 1948. He emerged in the early 1970s under the wing of manager Adam Faith, and his first seven UK singles all reached the top ten, a run previously matched only by Faith himself. Moving from theatrical pop into soft rock, disco and blue-eyed soul, he scored two consecutive US number ones in 1977 with 'You Make Me Feel Like Dancing' and 'When I Need You', and won a Grammy for Best R&B Song. A 2006 remix of 'Thunder in My Heart' returned him to number one in the UK after nearly 24 years. Now an Australian citizen, Sayer has kept a steady live presence, rebuilding his career through touring.
