Nkosinathi Nhlakanipho Mavuso, who performs as Langa Mavuso, is a South African singer and songwriter born in Diepkloof, Johannesburg in 1994. Both his parents were singers and he grew up going to choir rehearsals and choral competitions with them; he studied contemporary music at the National School of the Arts, read politics and economics at Rhodes University, then studied jazz performance at the University of Cape Town. His debut EP, Liminal Sketches, appeared in 2016, followed by Home. Black Coffee heard "Sunday Blues" and signed him to Soulistic Music, and the album Langa followed in 2020. He describes his music as soul and R&B, and his lyrics as urban African stories.
