Koi

Koi is the stage name of Coye Sanders, an American artist and producer born in 2001 and raised in Huntsville, Alabama. He began making beats in 2016, uploading early productions to sites like Airbit and SoundCloud, and has since built a wholly independent career, self-producing most of his music and playing a range of instruments. His work moves fluidly across hip-hop, commercial pop, R&B, rock and hyperpop, and he has drawn a devoted underground following without signing to a label, actively promoting himself, or relying on high-profile cosigns. Since 2021 he has been praised in online music communities for an accessible yet distinctive ear for hooks. As a self-directed artist working outside traditional industry channels, Koi's reputation has grown chiefly through his catalogue and word of mouth.
