About
King Prawn are an English ska punk band founded in London in 1993. Their first major recording, First Offence, came three years later and was produced by Martin "Ace" Kent of Skunk Anansie, and they toured constantly with everything from hardcore bands to traditional and 2 Tone ska acts. They were nominated for a Kerrang! award for Best New British Band in 1998. The band called time in 2003 — bassist Babar Luck went out under his own name, and singer Al Rumjen joined Asian Dub Foundation in 2007 — before reforming in 2012 with an extended brass section and a keys player. They played Boomtown and Reading and Leeds in 2013, and released The Fabulous new sounds of ... on Cherry Red Records in April 2019.
