Keith Sweat is an American R&B singer, songwriter and producer, born in Harlem, New York, in 1961, and a key architect of the new jack swing sound. He performed at the Apollo Theater in his youth and sang with the band Jamilah before going solo, breaking through with the 1987 album Make It Last Forever, which sold three million copies and yielded the number-one R&B single 'I Want Her'. Across thirteen solo albums he scored further hits including 'Twisted' and 'Nobody', and formed the platinum supergroup LSG with Gerald Levert and Johnny Gill. He won an American Music Award in 1997 and a Soul Train Lifetime Achievement Award in 2013, and remains a durable live draw.
