About
Jon Gomm is an English singer-songwriter and fingerstyle guitarist, born in Blackpool in 1977, known for a percussive acoustic technique that turns a single guitar into a one-man band by striking the body and bending harmonics. Inspired by Michael Hedges, he studied at London's Guitar Institute and Leeds College of Music. His single 'Passionflower' (2011) went viral after Stephen Fry tweeted it in 2012, and later placed sixth in Total Guitar's 2023 list of the fifty greatest acoustic songs; albums include the crowd-funded Secrets Nobody Keeps (2013) and The Faintest Idea (2020). He has played festivals including Download and Electric Picnic and toured across China, Brazil, South Africa, Australia and Canada. On stage he favours intimate independent venues, where his physical, hands-on playing is best appreciated.
