About
John Burke is a Georgia-born pianist and composer whose rich, energetic sound was inspired by solo pianist George Winston and The Doors’ keyboardist Ray Manzarek. The son of musician David Burke, he began playing piano as a high-school freshman and joined Vinyl, a southern-rock band with country star John King, then studied at Oglethorpe University, where he fell in love with composition. Since 2011 he has released eight albums, including the solo piano album Orogen, nominated for Best New Age Album at the 59th Annual Grammy Awards, and he has scored for screen and video games and written and directed musicals. His latest work, The Longest Night, is a winter album of mashups of popular songs and holiday favorites, and he has sold out Atlanta venues with his Superstratum orchestra.
