Jazz At Lincoln Center Orchestra

The Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra is an American big band founded in New York City in 1988 as the resident ensemble of the Jazz at Lincoln Center organization. Trumpeter Wynton Marsalis has led it as artistic and musical director since 1991, steering a repertoire steeped in jazz history and particularly the music of Duke Ellington, beginning with the 1992 debut Portraits by Ellington. The orchestra backed Marsalis on Blood on the Fields, which won the Pulitzer Prize for Music, and earned a 2020 Grammy nomination for Una Noche con Rubén Blades. Since 2015 it has recorded for its own Blue Engine label. A busy touring and educational ensemble, it performs at Lincoln Center, on the road internationally, and in collaboration with symphony orchestras.
