Jak de Priester, born Jako Roux in Parys in the Free State, is an Afrikaans singer-songwriter, poet and television presenter. He studied at the University of Pretoria and taught French and German, including a period in London, before winning the ATKV Crescendo singing competition in 2002. His albums include Brooklyn Poet (2005), Groen Mamba (2009) and Die Liefde Los 'n Spoor (2011), and his hits include 'Sally Williams Nougat' and 'Groen Mamba'. He composed and performed the theme song for the kykNET soap opera Binnelanders, plus themes for the series '10 uit 10' and 'Reis na Gister'. He has also published poetry collections.
