Irene-Louise van Wyk is a South African singer who has become one of the most recognisable voices in Afrikaans pop and indie pop. Raised in Pretoria East, she comes from a musical family as the daughter of the late singer Irene van Wyk and music promoter Louis van Wyk. She scored a genuine cultural moment when the #TekkiesBrand dance made her song 'Tekkies Brand' the first Afrikaans track to go viral on TikTok, and her music videos have drawn millions of views. Her work has earned an AITSA Award, multiple Platinum and Gold Afrikaans is Groot Awards, and two Afri Indie awards. A fixture of the Afrikaans music scene, she brings her chart-topping songs to festival stages across South Africa.
